I started this website as a platform to refine my thoughts on how the United States applies the instruments of national power. I have read, written, and, for the most part, I have gotten to where I wanted to be. To say the journey was mentally arduous would be an understatement. In fact, along the way, I was confronted with unpleasant discoveries which led to uncomfortable realizations. Based upon the preceeding, allow me to borrow from Nietzsche:
“People who comprehend a thing to its very depths rarely stay faithful to it forever. For they have brought its depths into the light of day: and in the depths there is always much that is unpleasant to see.”
All of the above is a long-winded way of saying that, while I have not lost faith in national security writing, for me, personally, there will be less of it in the future as I have little more to say. Despite this lessening, I still enjoy writing, and will have new content on this website at some point. This new content will not focus on national security but will instead be in other areas of my life that I think some will be interested in.
I hope those who have followed my website these last few years do not see this as a “bait and switch” but instead see a single blog owner shifting from one area of exploration to another.
